Peninsula Ballet Ensemble (PBE) is a community performing arts school located in Somerville on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.

The school is staffed by a team of highly qualified and talented teachers who all have extensive dancing and performance experience and is managed by a Committee of Management.

Our Teachers

Sharyn Peters is a Vaganova Russian trained ballerina who has studied with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and Cecchetti Ballet Australia. Sharyn's professional career highlights include touring nationally and internationally with West Australian Ballet, Queensland Ballet, Australian Opera, Australian Contemporary Dance Company, Sydney Dance Company and The Tasmanian Ballet Company.

Sharyn is a full member of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and Australian Teachers of Dancing Limited (ATOD) and is an International Dance Teachers Association and Cecchetti Ballet Australia Licentiate. She also owned a dance studio for over 20 years before joining Peninsula Ballet Ensemble.

Lisa Cullinane started dancing at the age of five at the May Downs School of Dance in Melbourne. She has trained in all forms of dance including tap, jazz, ballet and neo-classical and has competed in many dance competitions including Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing and the Royal South Street Annual Eisteddfod in Ballarat and has performed in pantomimes and theatrical shows.

Lisa has been teaching dance for 25 years at dance schools throughout Melbourne. She is a member of the Australian Teachers of Dance (ATOD) and has taught this syllabus since 1997.

Natalie Mayor has trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical and tap since the age of four years and has successfully completed major exams at the highest level with Cecchetti Ballet Australia, Australian Teachers of Dance (ATOD) and Southern Federation of Dance.

Natalie has competed and won numerous competitions and championships and her highlights include dancing with the Kiev Ballet Company in a production of The Sleeping Beauty and winning the prestigious Victorian Ballet Teachers Workshop.

Emma Higgins has danced since she was three years old and has trained in all forms of dance including ballet, jazz, tap, neo-classical and contemporary. She has studied with Cecchetti Ballet Australia and Australian Teachers of Dance (ATOD) and has succesfully completed major exams at the highest levels.

Emma's highlights include lead roles in PBE's productions of The Wizard of Oz and The Nutcracker and her passion is choreography with choreographic credits for school productions including Beauty and the Beast and Guys and Dolls.

Abbey Mitchell commenced dance training with Lisa Pellin Dancers and later spent four years with the Victorian State Dancers. Abbey is a graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and she has a Bachelor of Arts (Dance) and has recently completed a Masters of Teaching.

Abbey has studied and taught dance, acrobatics, vocals and drama for over 12 years and her professional highlights include a number of collaborative dance and art projects including street dance and numerous theatrical productions.

Andrea Mercurio commenced dance training at the age of eight and after graduating from the Australian Ballet School, was asked to join the Australian Ballet Company. Andrea danced with the Australian Ballet as a Coryphee, Soloist and Senior Artist and performed roles in some of the ballet greats including Odette/Odile in Swan Lake and Aurora and Carabosse in The Sleeping Beauty.

Andrea went on to accepted an invitation from Graeme Murphy to join Sydney Dance Company where she danced soloist and principal contemporary roles including a duo specifically choreographed for her that received national and international acclaim. Andrea has performed extensively in Australia and around the world.

Jennifer Mayor commenced dancing at the age of four and has trained in ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap and drama, studying Cecchetti Ballet Australia, Australian Teachers of Dance (ATOD) and Southern Federation of Dance syllabus. She has performed extensively at competition level as a soloist and in troupes.

Jennifer has a passion for drama and has studied drama at VCE level. Her theatrical credits include The Lion in PBE's production of The Wizard of Oz and school productions of Camp Rock, Beauty and the Beast and Guys and Dolls.
